Back to Basics
A few years ago, Mockingbird Sun came together through songwriting. When Brett and I sat down with Truck Roley, a Nashville native that had just returned home from Portland, we didn’t expect to do anything more that write a song. What we found was a kindred spirit that was the missing piece that we didn’t know we had been looking for. We entered the room as 3 songwriters and we left as a band. Since that day a few years back, we have toured non-stop, recorded three EP’s, and met so many interesting people all over the country.
So far in 2013, Mockingbird Sun has focused on the thing that brought us together in the first place: Songwriting.
We have written songs this year with some of our favorite writers. Tom Douglas, Liz Rose, Erik Dylan, Ryan Hurd, Scooter Carusoe, James Slater and many more…If there’s a name on that list that you don’t recognize, you owe it to yourself to look them up. It’s been an honor collaborating with them.
You’re gonna love the new songs. In fact, we are so ready for you to hear them that we are going to be producing a series of acoustic videos in the coming weeks to give you a sneak preview of what we’ve been working on. Your feedback on the videos might even play a role in which songs make the record!
